Mid-City

In the spring of 2016, I was 25 and had just moved from New York City to Los Angeles with my best friend to start a new life pursuing the Hollywood dream. After seven years in New York, I found LA to be magical and boundless, but also isolating, confusing, and intimidating. I struggled to find my footing. During this transitional - and ultimately, incredibly rewarding - period of my life, I was inspired to capture that moment in time. I poured my fears, my insecurities, and my hopes into the script for “Mid-City”, and filmed it with a guerrilla crew of friends in my apartment over a weekend. It captures the culture shock of us displaced East Coasters crash landing in a strange new sunny city, the struggles of young creatives trying to find their way as professionals, and stands as a time capsule of that era of my life.
