Sanskriti

Titled from the ancient Sanskrit word for culture, “Sanskriti” is a feature documentary that explores the human experience in today's technology-driven age. Filmed from 2013-2014, the film follows the lives of four young adults in China, Kenya, Finland, and the USA, chronicling the day-to-day experiences of these Millennials from vastly different cultures, coming of age in the digital era. I spoke to them about their feelings on everything from human advancement, to their fears about the future, their life goals, their social media use, their views on other cultures, relationships, their cell phones, and the role that technology plays their day to day lives. The finished product is a dissertation on how we Millennials have been radically impacted by growing up alongside modern technological advancements. “Sanskriti” captures a moment in time, when this generation began to enter adulthood, and reveals how our perspectives of the world and our place in it have been directly molded by our relationship with technology.
